Malawi central Bank RBM maintains policy rate
The Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) has maintained policy rate at 25 percent, a decision made at the second Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting for 2015 aimed to review recent global and domestic economic developments.
According to a statement released by the central bank, monetary policy remained tight in the first quarter of 2015 as money supply growth decelerated to 15.0 percent in February 2015 from a high of 34.0 percent in February 2014.
RBM last revised upwards the policy rate in October last year to 25 percent from 22.5 percent and has since maintained the rate.
